This shirt uses the standard C18th square gusset pattern and is made from a very fine linen which softens wonderfully when washed.
These are voluminous garments cut in the same way as the originals of the period. Perfect for C18th costume, not ideal for those familiar only with C21st clothing who may find them intimidatingly large.
Shirts of this style were still worn far in C19th particularly by working class men as depicted by Ford Maddox Brown.
Dye-able linen buttons.
These shirts shrink slightly, especially if tumble dried but the measurements given here are taken AFTER washing.
Coloured shirts are available in this style as SH120C
