Some years ago we bought up a large quantity of genuine vintage Liberty prints from an old factory in Kent. Much of the cotton lawn has been snapped up by people who recognise its value but we have been wondering what to do with the wool/cotton mix. During the lockdown winter we've been busy experimenting with ladies dressing gowns and are completely delighted with the results.
The fabric is known as Jubilee and is no longer manufactured. It is similar to Viyella being 82% cotton 18% wool and is entirely perfect for these cosy but lightweight robes.
Very beautiful, very stylish and very comforting!
We've made several proto-types before committing to this style which we consider the perfect kimono shape. The wrap around is generous and there are two substantial pockets. They are one size which realistically fits anyone from around a size 8-16 UK size.
Front facing and cuffs are trimmed with a distinctive binding.
Back length is 48" or 122cm from under the collar to hem.
Made with French seams so they look as good inside as out.
We are making them here in our workroom in Lewes and have a several made up ready to dispatch.
