Spats were worn over shoes from late C19th to the early 1920’s.
The main purpose was to protect the upper part of the shoes from spattering with mud. The name therefore derives from ‘spatterdash’ .
These are made in the best quality heavyweight pure wool melton so do not curl irritatingly at the toe.
Please note that the grey are hand dyed which gives them a convincingly vintage look however the edges visibly whiter.
They are exact replicas of originals and have leather straps with nickel buckles.
At present we have only one size which fits a large shoe from British size 9-11.
